Kridanam
- Introduction:
- Kridanam is the sports segment of the Samyojanam 2024 conference, aiming to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among participants. This segment includes indoor and outdoor games, encouraging delegates to engage in various physical activities.
- Games Included:
- Indoor Games:
- Badminton (Singles and Doubles, Male and Female)
- Table Tennis (Singles and Doubles, Male and
- Carrom (Singles, Male and Female)
- Outdoor Games:
- Tug of War (Team Event, 5 participants per team Male and Female Team )
- Satoliya (Team Event, 3 participants per team Male and Female Team)
- Eligibility Criteria:
- All registered delegates of the Samyojanam 2024 conference are eligible to participate in Kridanam.
- Each delegate is allowed to participate in a maximum of two games.
- A maximum of two teams from one institute are allowed per game.
- Registration Process:
- Delegates must register for Kridanam during the conference registration process.
- The registration form will include options to select the games in which the delegate wishes to participate.
- Team events require a list of participants to be submitted at the time of registration.
- No additional registration fees are required for participating in Kridanam.
- Game Rules and Regulations:
- Badminton and Table Tennis:
- Matches will be played in both singles and doubles categories, separated by male and female participants.
- Standard rules as per the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) will be followed.
- Carrom:
- Matches will be conducted in singles format, separate for male and female participants.
- Standard rules of the International Carrom Federation (ICF) will apply.
- Tug of War and Satoliya:
- Both games will be team events, with 5 participants per team
- Tug of War rules will adhere to the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) standards.
- Satoliya will follow traditional Indian rules; details will be provided before the event.
- Event Format and Scheduling:
- The event schedule will be released one week prior to the conference, including the time slots and venues for each game.
- All games will be conducted on a knockout basis unless specified otherwise.
- Participants are expected to report to their respective venues at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Conduct and Discipline:
- Participants are expected to maintain sportsmanship and respect towards fellow participants, referees, and coordinators.
- Any form of misconduct or violation of rules will result in disqualification.
- The decisions of the referees and event coordinators will be final and binding.
- Awards and Recognition:
- Winners and runners-up of each game will receive medals and certificates.
- Health and Safety:
- Participants are advised to engage in games considering their physical fitness and health.
- Medical support will be available on-site during the events.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Badminton/Table Tennis Kridanam Event (single/doubles)(male/female)
- Tournament Structure
- Stage 1: Group Stage
- Players/teams will be divided into groups.
- Each group will have a round-robin format, where every player/team competes against all other players/teams.
- The top player(s) or team(s) from each group will qualify for the knockout stages (quarter-finals).
- Stage 2: Knockout Stages
- Knockout stages include quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final.
- Once a player/team loses a match, they are eliminated from the tournament.
- Match Point Rules
- Group Stage (11-Point Games)
- Matches in the group stage will be played to 11 points.
- A match will consist of the best of 3 games.
- The first player/team to reach 11 points wins the game, provided they lead by at least 2 points. If the score reaches 10-10, play continues until one player/team leads by 2 points.
- In Table Tennis there are 2 serves for each player at a time irrespective of the point taken.
- Quarter-Finals (15-Point Games)
- Matches in the quarter-final stage will be played to 15 points.
- Each match will be the best of 3 games.
- The first player/team to reach 15 points wins the game, with a minimum lead of 2 points. If the score reaches 14-14, play continues until one player/team leads by 2 points.
- In Table Tennis there are 2 serves for each player at a time irrespective of the point taken.
- Semi-Finals and Final (21-Point Games)
- Matches in the semi-finals and final will be played to 21 points.
- These matches will also consist of the best of 3 games.
- The first player/team to reach 21 points wins the game, provided they lead by 2 points. If the score reaches 20-20, play continues until one player/team leads by 2 points.
- In Table Tennis there are 2 serves for each player at a time irrespective of the point taken.
- Rules and Regulations
- General Badminton Rules: All matches will follow standard rules per the Badminton World Federation (BWF) guidelines.
- Service: The right to serve is determined by a coin toss or shuttle toss before the match begins.
- Side Change: Players/teams will change sides after each game, and in the deciding game (if applicable), sides will also change when the leading player/team reaches half of the required points (e.g., 6 points in an 11-point game, 8 in a 15-point game, and 11 in a 21-point game).
- Time Intervals
- Between Games: A 2-minute interval is allowed between games.
- Mid-game Intervals:
- In 11-point games, there is a 60-second interval when a player/team reaches 6 points.
- In 15-point games, a 60-second interval is allowed at 8 points.
- In 21-point games, a 60-second interval is allowed at 11 points.
- Tournament Logistics
- Match Schedules: Players/teams must be present 15 minutes before their scheduled match time.
- Umpires and Line Judges: Trained umpires and line judges will be present to officiate matches.
- Dispute Resolution: Any disputes during the match will be resolved by the umpire, whose decision is final.
- Tiebreakers in Group Stage
- If two or more players/teams have equal points after the group stage, the following tiebreakers will be used (in order):
- Head-to-head results.
- Points difference (total points scored minus total points conceded).
- Total points
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Carrom Tournament
- Tournament Structure
- Formats:
- Singles Format: One player competes against another in a 1 vs 1 format.
- Doubles Format: Teams of two players each compete in a 2 vs 2 format.
- Separate Categories:
- Male singles and doubles
- Female singles and doubles
- The tournament will consist of:
- Group Stage (Round-robin format)
- Knockout Stage (Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and Final)
- Match Time Limit
- Maximum Time for Each Game: 30 Minutes
- Each match has a strict 30-minute time limit.
- If the match is not completed within 30 minutes, the winner is determined based on the player/team with the higher score (pocketing more carrom men) at the end of the time limit.
- If the score is tied after 30 minutes, refer to the Tie-breaking Procedure (see Section 7).
- Game Rules and Scoring
- Basic Rules:
- The tournament follows standard International Carrom Federation (ICF) rules.
- Each player/team takes turns striking to pocket the carrom men (white and black discs) using a striker.
- The player/team to pocket the queen (red disc) must cover it by pocketing a carrom man of their colour immediately after.
- Scoring System.
- The player/team with the most carrom men pocketing when the board is cleared or the game ends (within the 30-minute limit) is the winner.
- Game Objective:
- To pocket all carrom men of the player/team’s colour and cover the queen.
- Group Stage
- Players/teams will be divided into groups.
- Round-robin format: Each player/team will play against all others in their group.
- Points System:
- Win: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
- Players/teams with the most points from each group advance to the knockout stage.
- Knockout Stage
- The knockout stage will consist of quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.
- Match Format:
- Each match in the knockout stages will be a single game, with a maximum time limit of 30 minutes.
- If the match ends in a draw after 30 minutes, tie-breaking rules will be applied (see Section 7).
- Time Management
- Timekeeper:
- A designated timekeeper will track the 30-minute limit for each match.
- The timekeeper will announce when 5 minutes are remaining in the match.
- Forfeiture:
- If a player/team does not start the game within 5 minutes of the scheduled time, they forfeit the game, and the opponent is declared the winner.
- Tie-breaking Procedure
- If the score is tied at the end of the 30-minute time limit, the following tiebreakers will apply in order:
- Higher number of pocketed carrom men: The player/team with more pocketed carrom men (excluding the queen) will be declared the winner.
- Queen possession: If both players/teams have pocketed the same number of carrom men, the player/team that pocketed and covered the queen will be declared the winner.
- Sudden death: If the tie persists, the game will continue with a sudden death round, where the first player/team to pocket any carrom man wins the game.
- Service and Turn Rules
- Service:
- A coin toss determines which player/team serves first.
- Players/teams alternate turns after each round, and service alternates after each game in the group stage.
- Break (Initial Strike):
- The starting player/team will strike first to break the arrangement of carrom men at the beginning of the game.
- If no carrom men are pocketed, the next player/team takes their turn.
- Fouls and Penalties
- Common Fouls:
- Pocketing the striker results in a foul, and 1 point is deducted from the player/team’s score.
- Pocketing an opponent’s carrom man or the striker leads to the loss of turn and a penalty of 1 point.
- Pocketing the queen without covering results in returning the queen to the board, and the player’s turn is forfeited.
- Penalties:
- If a foul occurs, the opponent is awarded 1 point, and the turn passes to them.
- Match Schedules
- Participants must arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled match time.
- The schedule will be followed strictly, and any delays may result in forfeiture as outlined in Section 6.
- Umpires and Arbitration
- Match Umpire:
- A match umpire will be assigned to every game to monitor compliance with rules, keep score, and resolve disputes.
- The umpire’s decision is final in all matters related to gameplay, fouls, and scoring.
- Tiebreakers in Group Stage
- If two or more players/teams have the same number of points in the group stage, the following criteria will be used (in order) to determine who advances:
- Head-to-head result between tied players/teams.
- Higher total points scored across all games in the group stage.
- If still tied, a sudden death playoff will be conducted to determine the winner.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Tug of War Tournament
- Team Composition
- Each team consists of 5 players.
- Separate categories for male and female
- Match Format
- The tournament will follow a knockout format.
- Each match will be a best of 3 rounds.
- Teams must pull the center mark on the rope past the designated line to win a round.
- Match Procedure
- Teams take positions on opposite ends of the rope.
- A referee will signal the start of the match.
- Teams pull the rope until the center mark crosses the winning line.
- Time Limit
- Maximum time per match: 5 minutes.
- If neither team wins within the time limit, the team that has pulled the center mark closest to the winning line will be declared the winner.
- Equipment
- Standard Tug of War rope with a marked center line.
- Marking Lines: Clear marks on the ground for start and win positions.
- Safety Rules
- No cleats or spikes allowed on shoes.
- Players must pull in a controlled manner to avoid injury.
- Gloves are allowed but optional.
- Umpires and Arbitration
- A referee will oversee the match and ensure fair play.
- The referee’s decision is final.
- Forfeiture and Substitution
- Teams must be ready to compete within 5 minutes of their scheduled time, or they forfeit the match.
- No substitutions are allowed during a match.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for सतोलिया (Lagori)
- Team Composition
- Each team consists of 5 players.
- Separate categories for male and female
- Multiple teams participate in the tournament.
- Tournament Format
- The tournament will consist of:
- Group Stage: Round-robin format where teams play against others in their group.
- Knockout Stage: Quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals for teams that qualify from the group stage.
- Each match will be a best of 3 rounds.
- Game Rules and Objectives
- Attackers: Aim to knock down the stone stack and rebuild it while avoiding being hit by the defenders’ ball.
- Defenders: Aim to prevent attackers from restacking the stones by hitting them with the ball (below the waist).
- Round Win:
- Attackers win the round if they successfully restack the stones before all players are hit.
- Defenders win the round if they eliminate all attackers before the stones are restacked.
- Match Win: A team wins the match by winning 2 out of 3 rounds.
- Game Equipment
- Seven flat stones or stackable objects (Lagori).
- A soft rubber ball to hit the players.
- Match Procedure
- Teams are divided into Attackers and Defenders for each round.
- Teams will switch roles (Attackers and Defenders) after each round.
- Duration:
- Each round has a maximum of 5 minutes.
- The entire match can last up to 15 minutes (3 rounds).
- Group Stage
- Teams will be divided into groups.
- Round-robin format: Each team plays against all other teams in their group.
- Points:
- Win: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
- Teams with the highest points in each group advance to the knockout stage.
- Knockout Stage
- The knockout stage includes quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.
- Matches in the knockout stage will also follow a best of 3 rounds
- Time Management
